Mozart in the Jungle star Hanna Dunne visited our shop in January for something to wear to the Golden Globe Awards (Mozart in the Jungle won the 2016 Golden Globe for Best Television Series -Comedy).
Here she is in our dressing room trying on our new China Doll dress in blue ice, with a black waist cincher worn over it.
She also bought a pair of our Baroness amethyst pedal pushers which she’s wearing here to put on her make-up.
For the Golden Globes gala, she ended up with a silver bodice corset, ruby knee-length skirt and cincher belt. Here she is at the ceremony in full regalia with co-stars Jason Schwartzman and Lola Kirke:
In May, I was honored to be included in the Manhattan Sideways East Village photo exhibit at iLevel.
The exhibit featured photos of the small businesses (and their owners) that make this such a unique neighborhood, in celebration of East Village History Month.
Once again Breitling presented us with a fun challenge with this custom latex Yeoman guard outfit. As usual he bought all the original patches, leaving us to figure out all the technical details for the most authentic period look.
This year for The Texas Latex party I was heavenly inspired! I had a vision of “Breitling as a Cardinal and he in return threw down the gauntlet to me, to be Mother Superior! Superior I am, so that was easily done and allowed me to be crafty with my rubber tubing yoke, beaded belt, and exceptionally tall headwear. It’s surprising just how many “confessions” we listened to that night!
The 11th Montreal Fetish Weekend is featured in a Huffington Post Article with a lengthy slideshow. My black-and-white themed portion appears in photos 89-99, and on this cover photo:
For many in the fetish world The Montreal Fetish Weekend is the traditional end of summer, a 4 day event where attendees from all over the world take to the streets to flaunt and model their finest of fetish attire.
So it was there that I went, slave and assistant in tow (literally) to debut “The Maw”: over 40 yards of luscious black latex draped, tucked and manipulated, creating a combination art piece, social experiment and—for me personally—a bizarre rubber session of my dreams.
The dictionary defines the word Maw as “The mouth, throat, or gullet of an animal, especially a carnivorous mammal; a cavernous opening; a symbolic or theoretical center of a voracious hunger or appetite of any kind; the stomach, especially that of an animal.”
The name was more than appropriate, as for one month I was consumed by The Maw…toiling by day and dreaming of it by night. I have mulled over this bizarre rubber creation for some time, waiting the right stage for its debut.
Once we arrived at the hotel, the plan was to always be in the maw, attached and rubbery, as we let the mood of the beast flow through us. Much of the time was spent in the hotel documenting our process in videos and stills. testing its and our limits and enjoying the suite’s spacious bathroom (where we discovered, amongst over things, that three people in a maw can fit into a shower. However, it is impossible to move.)
The Maw had moods of its own. The first night we positioned ourselves in the hotel lobby, motionless and silent for 3 hours, watching the hotel guests’ reactions, which ranged from disbelief to studied cool. As we proceeded through the streets, photos were taken and questions asked and The Maw received applause and a standing ovation.
In the pool we spread out amongst the colorful balloons, floating like an oil slick on the Maw’s inflated bumps and curves. At the club we danced and encircled and consumed surprised guests in our rubbery clutches.
Since returning home a gallery has expressed interest in exhibiting The Maw, and we plan to take it for a stroll down 5th Avenue at rush hour, just to create a scene (and photos).
Having a balloon fetish may have enhanced the experience of my June Fetish Retinue for some. But no fetish was necessary.
Loving colour and latex as I do, I have always fantasized about a room full of balloons: a sea of shiny, colourful, latex orbs through which I could walk in my rubber ensembles.
At my Fetish Retinue parties I always like to see my guests playing in both adult and child ways. Apparently a back room full of balloons brings out the kid in all of us, as you can see!
A special thanks to Joe for providing hundreds of balloons and supervising my team of latex enthusiasts in blowing them all up. It was an evening that shall not be repeated and I’m so delighted to have balloon fetish photos!
